Since GizVBA isn't very good, I decided to tidy up and release the port of gnuboy that I was looking at a while ago. It's pretty complete, I think, but let me know if you have any problems/requests. I might well get around to supporting zipped roms at some point. GameBoy Advance (GBA) games are NOT supported by this emulator, and never will be. If you want that, do it yourself.

README.TXT contents below:

GizBoy 0.1.0
---------------

Gizmondo port by critical of gnuboyce 0.9.13-0.7, which in turn is based on gnuboy.

It emulates Nintendo GameBoy and GameBoy Color systems, complete with sound, SRAM and
savestates.

It uses 1.5x anti-aliased scaling. It is *extremely* unlikely that I will change that.

It DOES NOT emulate the GameBoy Advance, and never will.

gnuboy is licensed under GNU Generic Public License(GPL), as is GizBoy.
Source is available on request to the contact address below.

The original licence files and documentation may be found in the doc directory of
the zip file that this readme file came in.

Source is available on request, or at:

http://www.rxshorty.nl/gizmondo/homebrew/s...src-release.zip

Contact:

Installation
------------

Put GizBoy.exe in the root of your SD card, along with the included gx.dll
if you don't already have it. If you're using firefly's launcher, put everything in
a directory called GizBoy in the root of your SD card.

Usage
-----

GameBoy and GameBoy Color roms must be in a directory called:

GizBoy

in the root of your SD Card.

The GameBoy ROMs must have the extension '.gb' and the GameBoy Color ROMs must
have the extension '.gbc'.

Buttons
-------

The joypad does what you'd expect. The other buttons are:

STOP START
PLAY B
FFWD A
RWND SELECT

During emulation, the home key toggles main menu on and off, which will also
pause/resume the emulator.

Load/save state has been implemented.

Press the Speaker key to load state, and the Asterisk (*) key to save state.

If there is no state to load, and you try to load state, it will say that
it succeeded, but obviously it won't have.

Whilst in the main menu, the STOP key exits back to the Gizmondo system.

Up and Down on the joypad in the main menu select the ROM, PLAY starts
L and R triggers will page through the ROMs 10 at a time.

It's probably worth your while actually reading how your chosen launcher works. I haven't tried it myself, but lister wrote a guide here:

https://gizmondoforums.com/forums/index...?showtopic=8222

Following the clear explanation there, I'd have it like this (tetris.gb ROM shown as an example - not supplied):

{SD Card}
.......|-Autorun.exe {Zektors Launcher}
.......|
.......|- (GizBoy)
.......|.......|- Autorun.exe
...............|- gx.dll
...............|- tetris.gb

So that means that you'd rename the GizBoy.exe file in the release to Autorun.exe and put it inside the GizBoy directory that you've created on your SD card. Put the gx.dll file in there too, and you're ready to go (after you've added some GameBoy / GameBoy Color ROMs to that directory too).

People don't really bother with donations any more - stuff gets taken for granted, I suppose. I'm not exactly doing it for the money anyway, so it's not the end of the world. I'm happy if people enjoy playing some of their old favourites... it's always nice to hear from enthusiasts.

I think I'll have to put zip support in soon, as I'm running rather short of SD card space at the moment, and gb/gbc ROMs compress down very nicely as a rule.

It's been a while since you released an emu so nice to see you're still porting emu's. Thanks Critical

Are you still working on the port of gngeo?

It's a great emulator on the GP2X and surely the Giz version will be as good as if not better?

How's the port of gngeo coming along? Will there be a release soon?

As I said before elsewhere, I'm not working on anything at the moment. I have quite a few unfinished projects (as this one was) but was hoping that others would be doing more work by now, really. It's great to see Grodo, squidgesnes and drmd out recently, and beebem in the works, but apart from that there doesn't seem to be a lot of activity around emulators.

It does get a bit boring churning out emulators after a while, you know. I only released this because it irritated me that I'd left GizVBA in such a bad state, and wanted to play a couple of my favourite GB games on the go. I had a spare evening and a couple of lunchtimes, so that was that.

I'm not really into RPGs and stuff like that, so I wonder if anyone could check whether the real-time clock aspect of games is being handled correctly. I don't think Pokemon Blue had such a feature anyway, but it looks like the Silver version does from my brief googling.

I've tried to get it to persist the real-time clock setting when leaving the game, but I might have screwed up. I can't think of any games I ever had that used such a system, as I didn't really play many games apart from Tetris, Joust/Defender and Mario.

I did test the SRAM saving, and that was fine, but there should be a file created ending in .rtc corresponding to the game's filename when you're using one that has a real-time clock aspect to it.

time this has been discussed/asked now ? 1 week suspension for anyone else who keeps making repetitive requests..
