Hi,

I've done a basic port of Squidge's excellent Snes emulator to the Gizmondo. I doubt very much that I will do any more work on it, its just a stop gap until the sound in GizSnes is fixed. This port has pretty good sound on most games but if you try and run any things with mode7 graphics it all goes horribly wrong. Luckily none of the games I want to play use Mode 7 so I'm sorted (IMG:https://gizmondoforums.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Save states work but are very slow, it can take 40 seconds to save a state. I have no idea why and I can't be bothered to find out. Ignore the SRAM menu options, they are disabled at the moment. Currently SRAM is loaded automatically when you load a ROM and it should be save automatically as well, although I have not tested it at all because....yes you guessed it, none of the games that I want to play need SRAM, so once again I am sorted.

Anyway I thought I'd share just in case this can help anyone else out.

How does this version compare to the GP2X version? Does the extra CPU power and 3D graphics make it faster? ( I can't test because I haven't got access to a Giz yet)

Since you will not be doing more work on Squidgesnes, I hope Critical can find the time to fix the sound problems in GizSnes or perhaps he will take up your offer to fix the sound?

Also just curious on why you ported another snes emu when we already have one? was it because of sound issues?

Thank you Reesy for the excellent DrMD and porting and improving emu's for the giz and hope you continue to do so.

The Quality of this emulator is better than the GizSNES, but with the GizSNES you didn't have to change the autorun file(meaning u could have many emulators at the same time). I hope you can rearrange this emulator to work with others aswell. It was nice to be able to use GizSNES together with GizSMS 0.2.0, GizDrive 0.2.0, GizVBA 0.2.5 and GizNester 0.3.0, but the sound kind of lags, atleast on my Gizmondo... :'\

could not get Super Mario All-Stars and Super Mario World to load (IMG:https://gizmondoforums.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

speed wise i think it is as GizSNES.

the sound is ok though (IMG:https://gizmondoforums.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

thanks anyway!

I'm interested in your use of the word 'little'.

The chip used by those games is the S-DD1:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S-DD1

Supporting the older-style graphics packs could be a faster option, but I would recommend that you don't describe a feature as 'little' if you want anyone to implement it. Saying that "someone must" do something doesn't sound very good either, since it sounds like a command. I know that English isn't your native language, so this is just a suggestion to improve your communication skills (IMG:https://gizmondoforums.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Tschuss!

Here is my effort :
Can we please have an emu that can emulate an X-box 360 and can we also have it play games via a wireless SD Card if it is not to much trouble seeing as you are such a nice guy i donate all Giz-Boggies pocket money for the next 12 months (IMG:https://gizmondoforums.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

this is an excellent port and it also works better as a port than as an original. the Gp version would run a few games or the speed would make it unplayable e.g Seiken Densetsu 3 but on giz it runs flawlessly
thanks alot
