How about a private alpha version?

I did it with the psx4gp2x version, so I might as well do it for psx4giz. (IMG:https://gizmondoforums.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I have sorted out tons of issues with the dynarec, and it's starting to get up to speed. Thanks to Tinnus and Unai I have been busy with lots of ideas on optimizing this crazy code.

Here's a link to the "private" alpha version of psx4giz. It's current version is alpha 3c:



Since I want to keep this version at "low key" as possible, since it's still not working properly, it's not gizmospain newsworthy, so the link will expire in about 4 hours. Things that are broken in this version:
- Save states do NOT work
- Changing games within the in-game menu do NOT work
- Compatibility might be different than previous releases, most likely theres a portion of games working on beta 2 that won't work on alpha 3.
- Sound is still disabled in this version.
- Interlacing is on by default, there's still small issues with interlacing, besides it decreases visual appeal.
- Some text in some games such as FF Tactics will be hard to read. Unai is working on fixing this.
- FF7 takes awhile to load (black screen on boot for about 1 minute) but it works. It's just skipping a splash screen. smile.gif
- The framerate indicator is on by default so...
*** VSyncRate gives the number of frames being displayed a second! ***
*** Framerate isn't the FPS, it shows how many *unique* frames are displayed a second ***
*** The FPS is BETWEEN the Framerate and VSyncRate ***

It's hard to give a good accurate FPS since we are using optimizations for only drawing frames if they changed since the last blit.

If you make a video of psx4giz in action, you might want to disable the Performance Stats in the in-game menu.

Let me know how this version handles. The more info, good or bad, on it the better.

That's good news.
Soon as I get home today i'll whack an ISO on and get some video footage of the performance. (But for now I really need to get some sleep)

nope skull, got that, works on gp2x version, same .z file..

ordinary .img ctd after loading screen also.

edit: i'm full of s**t, you were right skull, bad bios my end.

bubble bobble 2 says load success then hangs
vagrant story znx load success then hangs
bust a move 3 znx load success then hangs
fft iso load success then hangs
fft bin load success then hangs
fft img runs at 15 framerate indicated (once it gets going)
CSOTN img sticks at Konami screen
CSOTN .z fatal application error
ultima underworld .img works great but slow
Res evil survivor .img works great but slow
legend of mana .img works great but slow

Just testing Ridge Racer - Getting vsync rates of up to 90 at the loading screen, 50 at the main screen, but the emu crashes once I try to start a game... :/

EDIT: Forgot to say, great work on upping the speeds! (IMG:https://gizmondoforums.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

EDIT2: No luck with either MGS or Tekken 3, both freeze at start of game (Konami Logo -> fade to black -> emu freezes). Before it was possible to get into the game further, but with slow framerates...

I fixed a compatibility issue that prevented many games from loading after Load Success. I also fixed the issue where controls wouldn't respond. This version is also very slightly faster than before.

Here's the latest version to test with:

I MUST STRESS:
You *CANNOT* switch games after loading a game! If you do, it will say Load Success but crash at a black screen right after!
Save states will most likely crash still!
