Hi All,

Ok, just done a quick internal (from my bedroom (IMG:https://gizmondoforums.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) ) test, using "Fly Over" mode.... and yes, it works... (IMG:https://gizmondoforums.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

So MioMap now has TTS.... (IMG:https://gizmondoforums.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) (IMG:https://gizmondoforums.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

What this means is that when driving, rather than it just going...

QUOTE
At the next road, turn left

After 200 yards, go over the round-about and take the 2nd exit

It will now go like this...

QUOTE
At the next road, turn left onto Bank Street

After 200 yards, go over the round-about and take the 2nd exit onto London Road

Basically, giving you clearer instructions, so you know that you are aiming for the right road... rather than, is it going on about this exit or that exit?????

However, one thing..... its not the best of voices, its kinda like Stephen Hawking's.... still, it will get better... (IMG:https://gizmondoforums.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Cheers,

Lister

Hi Reaps,

Yeah, Robot voices are cool.... I have a couple with my TomTom (IMG:https://gizmondoforums.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

However, this one can be a little off putting... (IMG:https://gizmondoforums.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Anyway, yes, this software has been around for ages.. (IMG:https://gizmondoforums.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) sadly, working happier on other devices for a long time....

It's not until now that I finally got it working on the Gizmondo.... proof will be in testing it, as I've heard it to crash some devices on route (IMG:https://gizmondoforums.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) lol

Anyway, other SatNavs that have TTS include... Destinator (another projector I got going (IMG:https://gizmondoforums.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) )....

Cheers,

Lister

Hi ElyardJ05,

Looks wise, its hardly any different... However, I am gonna look for a good skin to work with TTS.

Its in what it says is the major difference. And on the way to work this morning, it worked fine... read out every road name on way....

The only downside is its quiet, but like most mornings, I didnt have chance to tweak the sound before I came out...

But yeah, an interesting new toy to play with...

Cheers,

Lister

Hi Wizzle,

Well, I have just come back from work this evening, and given it another test. As I've heard.... (apart from crashing) it also has some interesting routing styles too... (IMG:https://gizmondoforums.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

As always, my life is go, go, gooooooo.... and so as soon as I get in my car, thats it.... I'm off. So didnt not really pre-check the settings.... but it seemed like it wanted to send me in the oppersite direction all the time. Kept telling me to turn around or turn back. Anyway, once I got close to my address, it told me I had reached my destination, so I must of set it up correctly.

I shall test it once again before I am fully happy with it. And I shall change the skin for a better one too...

As for Puggles, I assume he has a valid licence for the software too (IMG:https://gizmondoforums.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) (IMG:https://gizmondoforums.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

One other thing, it is fun to hear it read the road names out.... but its like Stephen Hawkings on speed (not that I condone drug use!) (IMG:https://gizmondoforums.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Cheers,

Lister

Hi techno-maniac,

Yes, I still use it.... well, just recently anyway... as been going through and updating my Nav Collections.

This app came out around 2006, and after 2x years of no support/development, it was announced a new map. The latest Map I have for it, for the UK is based somewhere around the end of last year... I think October 2008, cant check until I get home though.

btw: this applies too iGo 2006, iGo 2006 Plus, MioMap 3.2, MioMap 3.3, MioMap 3.3 TTS, OnCourse Navigator and MyGuide.... maybe more, cant check from here... but all support the same map and engine

Cheers,

Lister
